Amy Gouldthread and Deborah Riley started Olympic Jade Rat Terriers in 2005. They got there first Rat Terrier, Maggie in October of 2004 after losing their Black Lab/Pit Mix, Cody, at the age of 12.
Amy saw Maggie on the website for Moore Manor Kennels and fell in love. Deborah took a bit longer. But eventually they both fell in love with Maggie and the breed itself. Especially those ears!
And although they are new to the Rat Terrier breed, they are old pros with animals. Amy helped her mother raise, train, and breed Shelties and Golden Retrievers. They both are foster parents for a local shelter, helping save and adopt many cats and dogs.
Their own brood is quite something. Harley is a 12 year old Golden Retriever(passed away Sept 2006 RIP), Maggie J is a 2 year old Rat Terrier, Leo is a 2 year old Rat Terrier, Sully is a 1 year old Rat Terrier, Teyha is a 6 month old Rat Terrier, Caesar is a 16 year old cat, Angel is a 7 year old cat, Fiona is a 3 year old cat. But they would never forget their most precious member Jaden, their 4 year old daughter.
They are located about 30 miles west of Seattle, in a small viking town called Poulsbo. There they live on over an acre of land where kids and animals can run.
